I have asked MS3B to stop featuring my content because they were largely responsible for my lost interest in creating CC.
(Yes, I know they’re convenient! You know what else is convenient and doesn’t allow creators to be flamed and has a nice interface? Sims 3 Updates)
While I was not attacked personally, I was disgusted by the way that many other creators were treated there. Because of the laissez-faire approach to protecting creators and all the abusive comments, I ended up viewing the TS3 community as a bunch of spoiled asshole brats. The thought of sharing my CC with such enormous fuckwits demotivated me from creating new things. Because honestly, it’s no skin off my back if I stop creating, and I do have other artistic hobbies that I enjoy.
We (creators) are not paid. We don’t have to share anything. You don’t fucking deserve to have awesome CC. It’s not a right. And it’s unbelievably spoiled & disrespectful to criticize the free gifts we create for you. Yes, even the shitty ones. Even the ones you don’t want. Even some cut & paste, photoskinned, nonCASTable project that a 10 year old could make is more than you deserve because we don’t owe you anything.
It’s totally backwards that the TS3 culture is so hostile towards creators--that everything we do that isn’t perfect is an invitation for abuse and criticism. It’s crazy that this is allowed and even expected. Sure, it’s great for utterly useless people who think they’re super-cool for bashing others, but it’s terrible for creators. And personally, I’d rather the TS3 community lose 1000 useless people than lose 1 creator.
It’s sad that people are afraid to try creating CC because of all the criticism. It’s sad the creators are stressed about releasing CC because of the reactions. And it’s sad that so many novice (and even experienced) creators have dropped out of the TS3 community. Novices do get better, but they need encouragement. Some of my first leggings for TS3 were practically bucket-filled. Yes, bucket-filled! I’m just glad that I posted them somewhere with a positive environment (yay, MTS!) and got the encouragement that I did back when I was CC newb.
If you made it this far, congratulations on having an attention span.
I know that not all of you are fuckwits. Many of you are actually generous enough to take 2 minutes to thank/compliment the creator who spent 10 hours making the CC that you downloaded. To you people, thank you for being decent human beings. Keep it up.

This is so true, I know it is for me. I've been wanting to try creating custom clothing and hair for a long time, but everytime I see a chat log for something cute with a tiny flaw ppl are ripping it apart. Saying things like "These are cute but I can see a little dot of my sim's flesh through them PLZ what is the name of the file so I can delete this crap?!?!" Where I come from that's is UNGRATEFUL and not to mention a backhanded compliment :/ And this they say to some of my favourite creators :( It scares me. Before people say thing like that they should ask themselves,
~do I have the skills to do BETTER than this person, and if not can I offer CONSTRUCTIVE criticism~
And if the answer is no, they should stfu and keep it to themselves. It's like they are a live mouse being dropped in a piranha tank >.< I want to create things, Lord knows I have ideas, but it's bad enough being trolled in general, much less having people insult your creativity and hard work. It's seems not worth it to me.

I don't see the bunch of sites and players of the sims 3 and actually the sims in particular as a community. There is no sims community to be honest. If there was a community, then people were helping each other, having respect, weren't selfish, weren't jealous, weren't full of hate and don't act like an asshole. Even my cat has more manners. Also, there are creators out there who do ask money for it, such as the robbers of t$r, new$ea, peggy, to name a few. And currently there is now this trend under some creators with that adfly link crap, which is a referral system. So they get paid everytime you click on such a link. If i look to the TES community, which is a real community, then that one is way more mature.
However, i have a little note regarding creating custom content and the responses on it. Granted, there are assholes out there which burns everything to the ground, because they like that. Such dickheads aren't worth the attention. If you don't like it, then don't use it. Simple as that. But as creator you can't expect that everyone is liking your work. And as creator you have to deal with criticism. There is nothing wrong with constructive criticism. People who act as a nodding donkey are also a nuinsance, because you would as creator never know what could be done better with your creation. So by saying that giving criticism to bad creations is disrespectfull is just wrong. It is disrespectfull by demanding people that they only should give positive feedback and may not say anything about it. That's also how dictators work. In a democratic world people may say what they want, in a normal human way offcourse, even if it is not something what you have hoped for. Get used to that. And if not, well, then you have a little problem.Don't get me wrong. Adding criticism to hate is not criticism, but bullshit and can be ignored. But adding criticism and saying what could be improved, also known as constructive criticism, is something that can be posted. By the way; not everyone on MS3B is an asshole. And in the meantime things have changed there. You can't react as anonymous anymore.

People who create content and work magic with script mods are the developers we choose, as opposed to the crack-smoking monkeys at EAxis that came with the game. It might be EAxis who make the game, but it is the CC/mod creators who make the game PLAYABLE.
Were it not for people like you, I would have uninstalled TS3 and walked away after less than five hours of play. As is, I think I've logged over 90 hours in the last week alone, and I'm presently in my twelfth generation in Bridgeport.
You are SO right about the community being crap; I'm a pretty heavy game modder *for other games* (mostly on the scripting and database end) but just looking at the TS3 community discouraged me before I even began. For the most part, I lurk silently and snag whatever people are generous enough to toss out, but I don't care to get involved because there are so many snarky jackasses who are seemingly encouraged to be that way.
I feel for you. I've been hoping the community would self-correct, but how long has it been going on like this ... nearly a decade? I find it amusing that in the uber-violent games I mod, the community is mostly literate and respectful, but here we have "girl-game" as my friends call it, and the community behaves like brats.
Anyway, I haven't even downloaded any of your CC (yet). I just breezed in and saw this post and figured I'd thank you BEFORE I peruse your wares.

I stumbled upon your site quite by accident some time ago, when I was looking for some Gay-themed content for my game. As someone who tried to make their own cc, (and failed miserably, I might add lol) I can truely appreciate all the hard work that goes into even the simplest of items, much less the high-quality stuff you and other creators produce. You ALL deserve a HUGE amount of credit (and some groveling at your feet), and all those negative people on MS3B should be flogged with a wet noodle. As a side note, I would just like to add that all my apartments in Bridgeport Must have at least one copy of "Weasels Ate My Flesh".

May I just say thank you for the "rants". I'm frustrated today with an idiot's comment regarding a recently released set I did, a set that is 34 meshes. I put alot of time and energy into it. I don't like S3, don't play it and only create for it as many people ask for S3 versions of my S2 sets. I hate trying to make "cast-able" objects as they never look like the image I have in my head. So I made this recent set not cast-able as after working on it for S2 and then going through the process of making it ready for S3 I was sick of looking at it!
The idiots that make those comments seriously need a lesson in "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all", especially if they don't have a single clue as to how much thought, time and energy goes into creating for their selfish asses.
At least reading all of the rants here made me feel a bit better and I won't quit creating for S3 quite yet.

Thank you for sticking through it and for your generosity in creating, even for a game you don't play! I actually don't play TS3 that much, but occasionally I'll play it for a burst.

Agree! And especiallyif they know how much goes into it, they should keep their damn mouths shut (or at least be more careful with how they dish out their critiques). If making objects CAStable is so easy, then why don't they do it themselves? It would take an experienced creator, like, 5 minutes to do it. That's nothing to complain about when you've already done 99% of the work for them.
Also, wow @ 34 objects! I make one or two objects, and I'm pretty happy to release that and call it a "set." What you do takes a lot of dedication and patience. Anyway, I'm glad you're not quitting S3 creation yet, but if you did, then I could totally understand why.
