The standard weight shirts are baggier, made with coarser fabric, and they tend to drape lower. The American Apparel shirts are more fitted, made with softer fabric, and whenever I wear them they tend to come low enough to cover a belt, if I'm wearing one. (I think I have an average-sized torso.) I've gotten a shirt from Threadless before, and I think these AA shirts are a little bit longer than that. I personally like the softer fabric, so I only get AA shirts for myself, so if I wanted a longer length, then I'd probably order a size larger or a men's size.
